Snakebites - Types of Venomous Snakes in Central Texas

There are four venomous snakes in Central Texas, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife. Three of these snakes are known as pit vipers- Copperheads, Cottonmouths (also known as Water Moccasins), and Rattlesnakes. The fourth venomous snake that lives in Central Texas is the Coral snake. Known for its order of colors of bright red, yellow and black stripes these snakes are commonly mistaken for milk snakes. This happens because they share the same colors, but the milk snake has red touching black instead of red touching yellow, and they are not venomous.
