Dr. TJ Palvino
DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. TJ Palvino grew up in the rustic and colorful finger lakes region of upstate New York. His college days were spent in the Green Mountains at the University of Vermont, where he sharpened his early interests in veterinary medicine by working on dairy farms. While in school, he studied milking practices on small family farms and helped run a student dairy co-op that supplied milk to Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

After a few years of exploring jobs as a Radio DJ and snowboard instructor, he got a job as a veterinary technician and realized his future was with veterinary medicine.

Thankfully, Texas A&M did not hold his New York roots against him, and he was admitted to their renowned veterinary program. Within three hours of graduating with his doctorate, Dr. Palvino had moved to Austin, which became his new home. He completed a rotating internship in small animal surgery and medicine at a 15-doctor specialty center, and then went on to join a large general practice in the Westlake Hills area.

In 2009, he became the owner of Austin Vet hospital, a large general practice in Central Austin, which was voted "Best Vet in Austin" by the Austin Chronicle. He was excited to step back from management and get back to his roots of patient care by joining his Vet school classmate, Dr. Moore at Lone Star Animal Hospital. He enjoys all aspects of general practice, but especially is drawn to surgical cases and also performs a lot of dentistry and oral surgery.

When not at the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family of four amazing kiddos. He loves hiking with his dogs and when he has time, exploring the rivers of central Texas with a Fly Rod in hand.
